✰ [Sheet Mask Review] Beauty Friends II ♥ Baemdok (Syn-Ake) Essence Mask Sheet Pack (Mask 4 of 4)✰

I really love trying different and interesting sheet masks that I wouldn't normally pick up, so when I received this interesting mask from Skin18 to review, I was excited to try it out! ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ The mask that I'll be reviewing today is the Baemdok Essence Mask Sheet Pack (뱀독 에센스 마스크 시트 팩) from the brand Beauty Friends II. Baemdok also means Syn-Ake and for those who do not know what syn-ake is, it is just an anti-wrinkle agent that is synthesized to mimic the properties of snake venom. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ


I've reviewed many masks from Skin18 in the past, but for those who haven't read any of my sheet mask reviews from Skin18 or don't know what Skin18 is, it's an online beauty website selling a large variety of Asian skincare products and they also provide some subscription boxes!                                                  ✰ Description of the Product ✰

There is a large variety of masks from the brand  Beauty Friends II, some of which include Mung Bean, Marine Algae, Red Ginseng, and Tomato, just to name a few! ♡ The prices for the masks are extremely affordable, compared to other sheet masks, with each mask priced at $1.40 USD on Skin18.com and can even go to as low as $0.95 with some sales! ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ

The packaging for the Syn-Ake mask on the front is really cute! ♥ I love how there are smiling snakes around the cover and the adorable snakes just make this sheet mask inviting to use. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ

The back of the package has all of the information about the sheet mask, which includes a short description of this mask, instructions on how to use the mask, cautions, and ingredients. The How To Use section also has a small diagram as well for those who prefer looking at the pictures than reading the text! ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ The package has text in both Korean and English and the mask is made in Korea. ⋆


                                           ✰ What is This Product Meant For? ✰

There's a short description of the mask on the packaging and it states that the syn-ake ingredient contained in the mask delivers elasticity and nutrition to your skin and using this will keep your skin bright and smooth. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ

The top portion states that this water-soluble essence mask is designed to deeply moisturize and condition the skin using concentrated natural plant extracts that help the skin absorb nutrients! ♥ I believe all of the sheet mask from the Beauty Friends II line claims to moisturize and condition the skin and by also using natural plant extracts. ⋆


                                                            ✰ How to Use ✰

Before using the sheet mask, the package states if you prefer a chilled sheet mask, leave it in the refrigerator for as long as you'd like and for a heated sheet mask, place the package in warm water (50°C/122°F) for ~2-3 minutes. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ

To use this mask, cleanse your face first and then soothe your skin with toning water. Next, apply the mask on your face, being sure to smooth out any wrinkles on the mask! Leave the mask on for about 20-30 minutes, or longer if you'd like. ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ When you're finished, remove the mask and apply the extra essence on your face and neck! Before throwing away the sheet mask, you can also leave it on your neck for ~5 minutes to give it a mini-treatment as well. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ If there is a lot of essence leftover, you can pat in on your arms and legs for moisturization! ⋆


                                                           ✰ Ingredients ✰

About half of the ingredients contained in this sheet mask are natural extracts, such as grapefuit extract and soybean seed extract. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ Some possible irritation ingredients for some people are fragrance and butylene glycol, so please be cautious before using the sheet mask on your face! I was able to find a list of the ingredients on cosdna.com to check for the safety levels (here) and found that the majority of the ingredients land in a not harmful category, which is good. ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ The only few ingredients that had a yellow-zone/medium safety level was phenoxyethanol, triethanol amine, and fragrance. 

As always, please be careful before using the sheet mask on your skin just in case you are allergic to anything or have irritations! I find that doing a patch test on your hand is not always as accurate as when you actually apply the product on your face, so I like to patch test on a very small area around my jawline since it's less visible if I happen to have a break-out. ♥


                                                           ✰ My Review ✰

After using this sheet mask, my skin felt really soft and moisturized! ♥ I loved how soft my skin felt and my skin also felt really smooth as well. I didn't see any kind of brightening effect and I didn't get any skin irritations after using this mask too. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ The scent of this mask was not the usual 'fresh' sheet mask scent, it had a light perfume scent that might be an irritant to those who prefer sheet masks without scents. It was really difficult for me to pin-point exactly how to describe this scent because I've never had a sheet mask smell like this before! ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ I honestly liked it, but the best way I can describe this scent is similar to when you're flipping through a Nordstrom magazine and it comes with those sample perfume scents on paper that kind of all smell the same. This sheet mask smelled like that! ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ

The sheet mask was folded neatly and wasn't too thin, so I didn't have to worry about tearing it when unfolding. ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ

The essence was clear and didn't take very long to absorb into the skin. There was also a good amount of essence left so I applied it on my face, neck, and arms. ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ

I really disliked the fit of this mask. There were some areas where it dried out faster than others, such as the area above my lip and the chin. That part kept coming off for some reason and so it dried out the fastest. The area on my forehead had a lot of mask left over on the top, so overall this wasn't my favorite mask in terms of fit. ⋆

Pros

💕 Cute packaging!
💕 Skin felt soft, moisturized, and smooth
💕 Light 'perfume' scent (could be a con for those sensitive to fragrance)
💕 Half of the ingredients contained natural extracts 
💕 No skin irritations or allergic reactions

Cons

💕 No brightening effects
💕 Mask did not fit perfectly in some parts of my face (e.g. forehead)

                                            ✰ Would I Recommend and Repurchase? ✰

I would recommend this mask to anyone looking for a nice moisturizing mask, but doesn't mind fragrance! ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ Although the fit of the mask wasn't perfect, it's not too big of a deal, so you can just cut the excess or fold it over to make it fit your face if you have the same problem as me. This mask didn't brighten my face like it claimed it would, so I would just recommend this mask more as a moisturizing mask. ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ I probably wouldn't purchase this Syn-Ake mask again, but I would definitely try the other sheet masks in the Beauty Friends II line! ⋆
